Daarukhana

Daarukhana is a contemporary Indian restaurant that brings modern indian cuisine to Hong Kong. We helped create the brand identity, communication program and helped revamp the interiors of the space.

Located at the heart of Hong Kong in Wan Chai in the outstanding Tai Yip Building which has been acclaimed as one of the outstanding works of architecture from around the world built since 1998. The original site held a previous restaurant called The Wine Beast.

The interiors were redone with minimal intervention yet maximum impact. The original restaurant was designed as a wine cellar with heavy use of shelving and wood. We repurposed the shelving with the generous use of brass to create a dramatic departure from the previous look. The original bar was recladded with copper and deep wood accents.

The identity was based on an art deco interpretation – featuring a bottle in the frame – a nod to the origin of its name.
